Assessment and LEarning in Knowledge Spaces is an online mathematics program that provides personalized learning and assessment tailored to a student's individual needs. Using artificial intelligence and adaptive, open-response questioning, ALEKS quickly and accurately determines what a student knows and is most ready to learn within a course

With a comprehensive course library ranging from elementary school math to complex subjects such as PreCalculus, ALEKS acts much like a human tutor to help take the stress off of homeschooling parents.

ALEKS offers highly-targeted, individualized instruction from virtually any computer with Internet access, making it a comprehensive and mobile education solution for students in grades 3-12. A subscription to ALEKS offers access to all courses and students may take as many courses as needed during their subscription period.
Course List

So when you start with ALEKS, you begin with an assessment test (20-30 questions) to see what each student already knows. ALEKS chooses questions based on the student's previous responses. When the assessment is complete, ALEKS creates a Pie Chart of what they already know. The dark portions of the chart signify the areas of mastery. The lighter portions represent areas the student needs to work on.

Once your student has taken the assessment test, they then progress through the program at their own speed, choosing from the variety of specific topics on their pie chart.

Parents can view their child's progress from a master account and get information or create quizzes.
Here is a snapshot of some of the worksheets your child may come across

Another great part of ALEKS are the Quick Tables drills. This is a short period for students to practice and master addition, subtraction, multiplication and division facts. I LOVE this aspect because I find that drill time is so important to math success, but it is also the area that I tend to forget to do.

What we loved: We really LOVED ALEKS, but did not get very far into the program due to a couple of children coming down with Whooping Cough. I love the variety of courses ALEKS offers including Accounting and College level Chemistry. I really loved how easy it was for my children to use and how easy it was to access the progress and attendance information. My principessa thought it was fun, but hard. The Mediator enjoyed his lessons and learned alot.

What was a challenge: Since we had two pretty sick children during this time period, it was a little difficult to get to the computer more to progress further. Also, the cost of this program while fair for this type of program would be difficult for us to continue beyond the time period for our review. Having 4 children who could benefit from using ALEKS, that is outside of what our budget can take on right now. I do think that ALEKS would be a very useful tool to have in our home though.

Hi Carrie,
This was a really hard review for me to write. It's funny. Some seem so easy; some seem so hard. The ones I like best are always easiest to write. I'm glad you liked this product.

Blessings to you!
Thanks for following me. I follow you, too.
