Thankful Tuesday

Now, I have always loved the idea of putting a "What I am thankful for each week" post on my blog, but I am not as regular with blogging as I would like...could be I am busy discipling five little lives, or it could be I am busy being a helpmeet for my sweetheart, or it could be that this body needs sleep occasionally...but for whatever reason, I am not sure if it will be a weekly feature or a one time thing....I love being thankful...we have so much to be thankful for that we don't even see or comprehend, but oftentimes all you hear is grumbling....
So, I will choose thankfulness...because:
Thankfulness, thankfulness is what I long for
Thankfulness is what I need
Thankfulness, thankfulness is what You want from me, from me
So take my heart and form it
Take my mind and transform it
Take my will and conform it
To Yours, To Yours, oh Lord......

Anyway, so 10 things I am thankful for this week:

1. Salvation through the blood of Jesus Christ
2. The Holy Spirit that lives within us, convicting and helping
3. My husband, who really works hard to support this family and who loves me
4. Our children...they are a wonderful blessing
5. The Bible, that it is true, that it is living, that it is ALWAYS relevant
6. That I have the problem of what's for dinner...even though meal planning really stretches me, I would rather have that problem than no food
7. I love my household servants: dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, vacuum, etc...
8. A vehicle that runs well
9. Homeschooling, which can tailor learning to each childs needs and interests
10. The body of Christ that comes alongside, encourages, exhorts, and befriends

Been Awhile

Well, it has been awhile since I last blogged...time just flies when measured by growing babies....speaking of growing babies...
One of mine, just got another year older....HAppy Birthday Lou...I love you!

So I am still looking for three participants for my Pay It Forward offer...you never know what you will get...I don't know either!!!!

It's that TIME of year...the time I dread most...TAX TIME...ugghh! I do not like tax time... it involves a lot of time and organization...both of which I am VERY LOW on...so I need to go and gather receipts, check stubs, etc and get this done...the sooner the better!

When JC was gone, we did some cleaning and organizing...amazing that so much can get done, but it looks like nothing did...so I still have much to do. I am thinking that I will make a master Spring Cleaning list and do all of those chores that never seem to get done and break them into small portions so we all can work together for a short period of time each day. One chore that is DONE...boy's room...two of my boys share a room and it was such a sty that you could not even WALK in the room...one small word on their behalf...their room was totally torn apart to get furniture moved, but they added to the mess coniderably...so we tackled the mess and it is done..
Another thing done: Laundry days...everyone has a day and that is when their laundry comes in the Laundry room...bedding and all...I have been training the children HOW to do their laundry and fold it, put away, etc...so they do the laundry, including whatever community things need to be washed too, like dish towels, napkins, etc. So laundry is running MUCH smoother!!! The good news is that the plan is working and bedding is getting washed more frequently...since we KNOW when it was washed last! the bad news...I am doing less laundry...yes, I know...such SAD news...can you hear me crying!
I am still struggling with meal planning...do not even ask me why this is such a struggle...I have no idea...I have a freezer FULL of deer meat that I have no idea of how to prepare...any thoughts??? My SIL blessed us at Christmas with this...what an amazing gift!!!!

Well, I need to get to work...making lemon curd, cookies and need to get this tax stuff done to surprise my hubby!

Have a great day!

This and That

So I have been neglectful of a little thing that I need to do...a friend of mine posted this on her blog and I am participating, so I am FINALLY getting this up on mine...

PAY IT FORWARD
On one of my favorite and most inspirational blogs to read, Lanita has posted a fun activity that is going around the blogs called Pay It Forward. How it works is that the first 3 people who sign up for it are sent a handmade item from me. After signing up, they post about Pay It Forward on their own blogs and do the same, making and sending a handmade item to 3 people who sign up. And so it continues on with each person.Pay It Forwards can be any handmade item or craft that you choose to send. The items do not have to be large, just something that you have made. According to the rules, you have 365 days to make & send the PIFs but most send them out much sooner. If you are interested in signing up, send an email or post a comment saying so. Once I contact you to let you know that you are one of the first 3 to sign up, you can then go ahead and post on your own blog about Pay It Forward. It sounds like a lot of fun and I am looking forward to doing this.Anyone interested in signing up? I can't wait to begin making and sending these items out.
PAGING
So my oldest had his week of paging and he ended up really enjoying it...and the temptation has been to say, "I told you so!!!!" I am so glad that he had a fabulous time...he met a couple of new friends...I hope they keep in touch...and he went outside of his comfort zone and got a view of life that he would not have chosen...so now, don't tell him this, but I have a new great idea to "force" him into...For those of you who are reading this and you really do not KNOW us...please know that I am not unkind towards my children, I just know their tendancies, strengths and weaknesses...anyway, I think Joshua will love this too
http://www.evergreenboysstate.org/
So the window for this is much smaller than the window for paging...so I am not sure if we can ARRANGE to have a friend do this with him, but as I have two years yet, I will be on the look out...maybe you will tuck this in the back of your minds as well...and if you are not from the same state that I am from, just enter your state in before adding "boys state"...in a google search...they have them ALL OVER
So this week is a week of catching up...since Josh was gone last week, we got some things organized and got rid of ALOT of things just taking up room...so this week, everyone is back to work...we have a couple of appointments that take us out of our regular schedule and the children are excited that co-op starts on Friday...
Oh, I forgot to mention...Joshua was accepted as an intern with The Learning Parent (Rick and Marilyn Boyer), so he is eagerly awaiting his assignment...I have also changed his schooling around to add a heavier dose of computers....not just dinking around, but really getting to know different programs and use it more than he does now...
Well, I need to get going...I will post soon!
Love,

A New Day

So, it is a new day in the Cannon family as we prepare to take my oldest down to our state capitol for his week of paging...he does not want to do it, but we all think it will be a great experience for him...so off we go.
I have been short on time and long on tasks lately and needing to make more laundry soap, so last night, I just made the powder...so we will see how that works....it is much easier to deal with than the liquid goo, but makes much less....
I feel like I have been sewing my brains out to make doll dresses for three birthday girls...my daughter and two others...but they are NOW DONE! I still need to get a couple of little jackets done, but that will be a piece of cake after 12 dresses!!!!
I am behind on my recipe cards as well...almost done with the holiday ones, but I also have a comofort recipe and a Valentine's recipe I need to quickly get finished...then I need to see what the next one is...
And that is about it...for today at least...
Gotta go...we're late, as usual!!!!!
