Postcards from Derbe

Last year, We studied Acts at BSF...as I have mentioned before...and this post has been sitting in my heart for some time...trying to think it through and get it just the way I want to share it...It all started with a very simple comment made by the teaching leader...she probably had no idea what she even started...but it resonated with me...She said, "Cheer up, Tomorrow you will be in Derbe." This comes from Acts 14...maybe 13 gives some context as well, but Paul had been experiencing heavy persecution and then was even stoned and left for dead. The NEXT day Paul walked to Derbe...which is ABOUT 50 miles away. Have you ever stopped to think about that? Stoned...supposed dead...walked to Derbe...50 miles away. Now some believe that it is at this time that Paul may have gone up into heaven and saw things from God...maybe God completely healed him...we do not KNOW for sure based on what the Word says...so I will not suppose anything here...
So let me share with you who are experiencing hardship...we have had the MOST difficult year of our lives this year, so I know some of what you may be experiencing...God is there...and He knows. He has not forgotten His children...He has plans that are for our good and His glory. He will finish what He has started in us...and He is completely FAITHFUL... C.O.M.P.L.E.T.E.L.Y... He cannot be ANYTHING but faithful.
SO, back to Derbe...when I heard this, I thought...there will be an end of our trials and we will have a time of peace. But, first, we have to walk to Derbe...after being stoned and left for dead...it's 50 miles...and that is a long walk but we will arrive one day.

Blessings,
C~

Carrie, you are completely right in that He is completely faithful. And, yes, we all have that walk. For some it is longer than others and with more rocks being thrown. But we will arrive in Derbe. These are such good words. Miss you, Carrie.
