Dymo Label Manager 260P

I got the privilege of trying Dymo's Label Manager 260P by being a Bzz Agent.
When the box came in the mail, we all gathered around to open it. Don't you just LOVE to get a package in the mail? Then we printed off a few labels. I really wanted to have people try this for themselves, so I didn't go crazy with it. The first place I took it was to our homeschool support group meeting. I shared a little about it and then passed it around. I think that most people just LOVE the look of having labels on things...I use labels in my pantry, craft room and school room. The theory is that when people know what goes into each container or space, then it will be returned there...the practice of that does not always play out that way in this house. I also took it to a family gathering and a girl's craft night. Now that people have had a chance to play with it a bit, I am going to go crazy in my pantry...OR maybe on all the binders in our schoolroom...I cannot tell you HOW many times I have pulled them out looking for the right one. This tool is valuable in so many areas...the office, garage, children's rooms, toy bins, SCRAPBOOKING...really so many things to organize. There is something just so satisfying in having a place for everything and everything in its place! A label also makes it easy to read...uniform in appearance...nice.

I think everyone really had fun watching that label print and then pressing the cut button and seeing their label. The Dymo Label Manager 260P is portable...I carried it around in my purse for several days. While I have not gotten a chance to fully master all of the features of the Dymo Label Manager 260P, it is fast and easy to use. It has 3 fonts and 6 text styles...you can save to memory, print multiple labels and it has a nice sized display, which as we, *ahem* age, is a very important feature! The buttons are a nice size, giving plenty of room for fingers to work without pressing wrong keys.

The Word of the Lord

A couple of days ago we were working on our history...we are using RRR (Romans, Reformers and Revolutionaries by Diana Waring)...just beginning a unit called The Seeds of the Reformation and Late Middle Ages. So from the Bible, Diana has a heading that said: Heart of Early Reformation in England and Bohemia and shared Isaiah 58 as one of the verses. This was such a beautiful passage that I wanted to share it with you all...it just speaks to me where I am...makes me think of a little boy so far away that has a family who wants to bring him home...makes me think of a little brown eyed boy who needs to be guided by his Savior and a Momma who wants to see him run to his Abba Father's arms...makes me think of fasting....keeping the Sabbath holy...and the GOODNESS of our Lord...

Cry loudly, do not hold back;
Raise your voice like a trumpet,
And declare to My people their transgression
And to the house of Jacob their sins.
"Yet they seek Me day by day and delight to know My ways,
As a nation that has done righteousness
And has not forsaken the ordinance of their God
They ask Me for just decisions,
They delight in the nearness of God.
'Why have we fasted and You do not see?
Why have we humbled ourselves and You do not notice?'
Behold, on the day of your fast you find your desire,
And drive hard all your workers.
"Behold, you fast for contention and strife and to strike with a wicked fist

Home remedy or Old Wive's Tale?

So, I have a sweet friend in Australia who gave me an interesting home remedy for a chesty cough...She says "You warm a couple of cupfuls of sand in a pot, if it isn't from
the beach, add about half a handful of salt. Make it as warm as you can comfortably
touch. Pour it into an old pillow case and tie it up. Rest the sand pack on your
chest until it cools down. The salt will draw out the moisture."
So, I have been trying it...and it feels like my cough is better...anyone coughing up a lung? Try it and let me know what you think...oh...and sand gets REALLY HOT, REALLY FAST...so be careful!

Tara's Quinoa Salad

I am making this salad tonight for a family gathering...I love how fresh tasting and delicious this is...a little bit of summer. I got this from my good friend, Tara...I have no idea where she got it...maybe on the back of a package or someone's blog...I don't know...but every time I have it...I think of her...what a sweet and wonderful blessing she is...dear and precious friend in our Lord...and all the fun we had at our homeschool mom's retreat...

1 1/2c quinoa
3c Vegetable broth


2 cloves garlic, crushed and minced
juice of 1 lemon
3Tbs olive oil
1/4c apple cider vinegar


1c cherry tomatoes, halved
1-2c cucumber, chopped
4oz artichoke hearts, chopped
1/2 small red onion, chopped
1/3c parsley, chopped
1/3c cilantro, chopped
1/2c sheep Feta-can be any kind of feta, but if someone has a dairy allergy, they can sometimes tolerate the sheep feta.

1. Bring quinoa and broth to boil for 15-20 minutes ( until broth is absorbed). Put aside and let cool.
2. Whisk together garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, and vinegar. Set a side.
3. Once quinoa is cooled, toss in veggies. Add vinegar dressing mix. Lastly add feta.
4. Let sit for 30 min. to absorb flavors

(My two cents here...this is best when eaten within a day of making...after that, the flavors/texture isn't as good...)

There is a precious little boy who needs a home...thankfully there is a home who would love this sweet little boy...the thing keeping them apart is the funds needed to complete the adoption. If you, or anyone you know is able to help this sweet boy...I know a few people who would be forever grateful. At this point, my friend needs about $18,000 or so...less than pennies before our Lord. He has already provided a small part of what they need...a craft & bake sale helped, a school drive helped...They are planning a birthday dinner soon...and that will help. I Need a Silent Night

Tis the season...the season when we all run ourselves ragged trying to smash three month's worth of activities into one month. The season to be sick, tired, broke and grumpy...to find material ways to bless and honor those we love. Do you feel stressed just thinking about it? How have we let this season get so out of control...where is Christ in our Christmas and how can we get back to a simpler way of celebrating what is for many, a Holy Day...I am not sure that I have the answers...but I think it takes focusing on Christ and being brave or bold enough to say...we're going to do a little something different this year, saying no to the extra activities that push us over the edge...I'm not sure about you, but I think I need a Silent Night...


I've made the same mistake before
Too many malls, too many stores
December traffic, Christmas rush
It breaks me till I push and shove

Children are crying while mothers are trying
To photograph Santa and sleigh
The shopping and buying and standing forever in line
What can I say?

I need a silent night, a holy night
