Home

Well a Happily Ever After ending to the story of my friend, Grace...she is bringing home Noah (even as I post this) and they will be reunited as a family after being gone for almost 2 months. We have been so blessed to see God's hand everywhere in the process of this adoption and cannot wait to see him thrive in his forever family.
Thanks to all of you who prayed, donated and stood beside this family throughout the entire process...I know this family really appreciates you!

Love,

Seventeen

May 23rd means one thing in our house...

BIRTHDAY!!!!
(evidently, it means the same thing for MANY of my facebook friends as well...Happy birthday Y'all)
So, in honor of the birthday boy, I thought I would post 17 things that make him a joy and a blessing....these are just the first things I thought of...if I were to do this next month, I am sure it would be a DIFFERENT list!!!!

So
1. He trusts in Christ as his Saviour
2. He is seeking the Lord's direction in his life
3. His smile/dimples are ADORABLE!
4. He is very generous!!!
5. He is teachable
6. He is very outgoing
7. He has started cooking!!!!! HUGE blessing!
8. He is a computer techy guy...very helpful for this computer dork!!!
9. He finds all the deals for the things we need to get...great at researching!
10. He has a cool fashion sense that is all his own!
11. He is trustworthy
12. He is friendly
13. He has an expressive face that I find is irresistible!
14. He is helpful
15. He is funny
16. He is approachable
17. He is patient

And, in honor of this boy, who doesn't prefer cake...the recipe for the Scotcheroos we made for him...comes out of our OLD church cookbook

Scotcheroos

1 c. corn syrup
1 c. sugar
1 c. peanut butter
6 cups rice krispies
1 c. chocolate chips
1 c. butterscotch chips

Bring Corn syrup and sugar to a boil. Add peanut butter, stirring til smooth. Stir in Rice Krispies. Press into a 9 x 13 pan.
Carefully Melt chocolate and butterscotch chips. Pour over the tops of the rice krispie mix. Cut into squares.
* note...if you let the corn syrup mixture boil too long, you will NOT be able to eat these...we learned that through a soccer snack mishap!
Also, if you chill these, you will have a hard time eating them...we learned this lesson last night...
Enjoy! This is one of our FAVORITE treats!

Blessings,
C~

A New Opportunity and an old one...

So, I am trying out another word of mouth marketing opportunity...I do not know very much about this yet, but I have had so much fun with another company that I thought I would look into this one. Let me know what you think...it looks interesting.

Also, this is the LAST day to enter to win a camera from my friend, Grace who is trying to raise funds to bring home her sweet little Noah...This is a REALLY NICE camera...I wish we all could win...but it is also helping to provide much needed funds to get this boy to his forever home. They are pretty close too...I think they only need $7,500 more...which sounds like a LOT, but is really on the downhill slide. Please consider being as generous as you can...every little bit helps! Spa Fundraiser

As some of you may know, I have signed up to be a BeautiContol consultant again...mostly because...I REALLY LOVE BeautiControl...
Anyway, I would love to offer a SPECIAL that I will call NOAH'S SPECIAL...you can view all products here: http://www.beautipage.com/spacannon/ and click on catalog
OR see me to try them, but I am offering three of my favorites as a special limited set...from which, the profits will go to Grace for Noah...there are no limits to this offer...please tell your friends...but I need orders by March 10th.

So, what is included...
Spa Manicure Instant Manicure-Gently exfoliates and moisturizes the hands...
Spa Manicure Extreme Repair Hand Therapy- THE HAND CREME OF HAND CREMES... forms a moisture glove lasts through 3-4 hand washings...
Lip Apeel- 2 step product that removes dry skin and moisturizes for extra soft lips...

Price is $65 and profits will go towards bringing Noah home...that amount will vary, but if 12 sets sell, I believe it will be about $300 to the Silva's.

I will do this for any products ordered, but these truly are some of my favorite products...other products I love are the Spa facial skin care ($146.50 for a set of five...should last 4-6 months) products, the Skinlogics Clear (for those who are acne prone...A LOT of my decision to re-join had to do with some boys who are having these issues...that set will be $ 81...) and several individual favorites....Therapeutic Bath Minerals ($23.75), Luxuries of the Seas Cologne ($28), Perfecting Wet/Dry Finish ($22.75) All prices listed here include tax...
Also, click here http://www.beautipage.com/spacannon/ and go to Skin S.P.A. to look at skin sensors...click on get started and on the next page is a link that says, " I don't have skin sensors" If you click on that, BeautiControl will send you some...it is a really neat service that customizes skin care to your particular needs.
Orders for this offer need to come through me, not my Beautipage...and feel free to email me if you have any questions.

Born in my Heart

My Friend Grace and her husband are raising money to bring a boy home from far, far away. I have been helping her...today, I have 30 of those plastic or rubber or what have you bracelets (you know the ones that were really popular a few years ago that said Hope or WWJD or Livestrong, etc) that say Born in my Heart (these are red) and I would love to have them ALL be sent out. If God has given you a Heart for orphans or for this family or even for me, would you consider sending a gift for Noah? I will send out your bracelet as soon as I get your request. Checks can be made out to Grace Silva and mailed to: Carrie Cannon at 1242 State Ave. Suite I-226, Marysville, WA 98270...Even though they need several thousand dollars, please do not think you cannot help. NO GIFT is too small...
Thank you SO much for your Consideration!

Help....

There is a precious little boy who needs a home...thankfully there is a home who would love this sweet little boy...the thing keeping them apart is the funds needed to complete the adoption. If you, or anyone you know is able to help this sweet boy...I know a few people who would be forever grateful. At this point, my friend needs about $18,000 or so...less than pennies before our Lord. He has already provided a small part of what they need...a craft & bake sale helped, a school drive helped...They are planning a birthday dinner soon...and that will help. Thank you for your consideration...

Thank you!

AHHHH...

A REALLY BIG Thank you to Alicia for telling me WHY that photobucket box was on my blog...that was making me SO crazy...AND I was wondering WHY my background wasn't showing up...I just thought that it was because of Bessie (my dinosaur computer), to my friend Lanita, for telling me how to fix it...and my techy guy...for doing it! You guys have really blessed me today!
C~

ARGH....

Ok, So, I have been trying to figure this out, but I cannot...so I am asking all of you with blogs who know much more about all of this than I do for some help...you know that Photobucket box that has been on my page for QUITE SOME TIME NOW????? Well, I would like to know how to get rid of it...I tried right clicking on it, I tried looking for whatever was deleted, but couldn't find it (maybe I should look again)...anyone have any thoughts that I haven't thought of yet? I would be SO appreciative if someone could figure it out for me!
Thanks!

Goodbyyye JUUUULYYYYYYY

said in your best Dave Neihaus voice (Mariners announcer)...

So July came in with my mom in the hospital with back surgery...she ended up in the recovery for seven and a half hours because her oxygen saturation levels were too low...and July went out with out friend Timothy in a coma from Cerebral Malaria...and we thought he was not going to make it through it...
Sprinkled throughout July were you usual things...Doctors appointments, meetings, etc...and also a couple of extras...taking a friend in for surgery, three family birthdays and Vacation Bible School...we also had a surprise...we thought DD broke his foot, but it turns out, he has something called Kohler's Disease, which, as I understand it, is when the tissue inside a little bone in your foot dies before that bone hardens and the bone collapses on itself...it will heal just fine, but it will take about a year to do so...
Things to be thankful for...
Well, we are SO thankful for Timothy being with us and gaining his strength, we are thankful for DD's foot not being broken, I am thankful that I am still 29, and I am very thankful that July is OVER!
August has so far brought the flu to our home...three down...hopefully NO MORE to go!
Love,

Poor, Poor Bessie

Well, when I told you all about our dinosaur, I forgot to tell you her name...we are calling her Bessie...well, because it just fit. Back in April, I rode to a women's retreat with a dear friend...it was her first time driving this new little commuter car her husband was going to be using and she was worried about how it would go up the pass...I told her it would be fine as long as the semis weren't passing us...well, the semis WERE passing us...and we had a great laugh over it...and I am not sure what the computer comparison would be for Bessie, but the semis are DEFINITELY passing her!!!! I feel so helpless as I can offer no help as she wheezes and groans with each page or email opening...just think back to dial-up if y'all can remember back that far...maybe we should have called her Granny...but Bessie, sad as it is to watch her work, is most beloved...perhaps we will have to have Flat Stanley adventures with her...well, except for the fact...well...that she is not that flat!!!!
Keep rejoicing with me though...and don't worry as the semis pass us by...the laughter in the car is WORTH it! (well at least Cheri and Grace will get it! ;-)

We have found a dinosaur...in our HOME!?!?!?

Dinosaurs REALLY do exist...not the reptile sort you are all probably thinking of, but the OLD TECHNOLOGY sort that I am typing on right now...and I cannot tell you HOW thankful I am for it...my husband and I have been giggling on and off for the past two days at the funny things that come up regarding this old computer...I was talking to a friend yesterday and telling her about how old it was and he started laughing and saying, "Now Carrie, it's only 10 years old!" So we are greatly enjoying this new endeavor...but after being without a computer for 3 months...I don't care....laugh all you want, I still get to stay connected...
Oh...and if you still happen to have any of those 3" or whatever they were diskette jobbies...well, you know where to send them...Do not grieve though...rejoice with great laughter!

Difficulties

I have been reading on Facebook and in various blogs and in talking with people and hearing what a difficult year 2009 was for so many...while it was for us too, I think that they have forced us to see where our faith truly is...Do we really TRUST God...BELIEVE that He really cares for us and is only good all the time...Can we see God's hand in the difficult times...as I sit here and reflect...as I am formulating my personal goals for 2010...as I think of the darkest days of my walk last year where there were days all the faith I had was that He Is...I think...those struggles make me rely on Him in ways that I don't when all is good...Those struggles chip of portions of my hard heart and get down to the tender flesh...those struggles form me more and more into the image of Christ...and for that, I can be thankful...I can say today that "ALL things work together for good, for those called according to His purpose." I can see some of the good in it...I may not even know the extent of his purpose, but knowing WHO HE IS helps me know there is a purpose.
I will be posting my goals for this year when I have developed them a little more fully, but for now, I just want to encourage you to be of good cheer and also to press on toward the prize and to Fight the good fight...because ALL THINGS work together for good...All....things....
Love,

Ouii, Wii

I hope you all have had a nice holiday season....It has been a busii December to finish all our Christmas gifts, and I hope everyone enjoyed them...I was VERY touched by my SIL's comments about last years gifts...nice to know they were appreciated.
Anyway, one of the MANY Christmas surprises wii were given was TWO Wii's...wii had asked my Dad to get us one as a family gift...wii found a GREAT deal at Wal-Mart...but then Dana's Mom surprised everyone with one...and THAT WAS A SURPRISE...
I have been wanting a Wii because I have heard that they were alot of fun...I mean a video game you move to...can you ask for more, gamers....anyway, I had my first attempt at it last night...I did not want to HUMILIATE myself in front of my teenage boys...so I waited until they were gone and the Principessa taught mii how to bowl, golf and play baseball...wii didn't play long, because those boys came home, but I am looking forward to getting on more often...AND, in case you are wondering, wii are taking the other Wii back and getting Wii fit for mii and another thing for the boys....

Good, Good News

We got EXCELLENT news yesterday...my oldest had an appt. at the Rheumatologist and we were told that there was NO swelling in his joints and his arthritis is inactive. Now they will probably keep him on his meds for a year and then he can be off if everything still looks good. Arthritis has flare ups and then kind of goes into remission.
He has been hoping for a trip to Dick's for some of the BEST burgers in his opinion...and I guess he ate TWO and TWO fries and a COKE....whew...love to see him eating so well....well, maybe not WELL, but eating so much...
Praising the Lord for His hand of healing!

Chris Klicka

Chris was a lawyer with HSLDA who lived a life devoted to Jesus Christ, devoted to his family and devoted to homeschooling and homeschoolers...I will never forget his description of a person suffering the anguish in hell...for eternity...and his anguish over that as well as his passion for sharing the gospel. What an amazing and gracious, humble and tenacious man...He will be sorely missed in this place...
Now, I would like to encourage all of those touched by his life to reach out to his family...as he has blessed us, let us bless them...Please remember them even beyond the next few weeks...
